Our
History
During the early to mid-1990s, Russia and
other formerly Communist countries appeared poised for economic success. Several
immigrants from Russia and Eastern Europe began providing educational seminars for Russian
businessmen and exporting auto parts, food, and clothing to Russia and the newly
independent states through a company they called ÌShuttle International.. Globus
International Resources was formed in 1996 and acquired both Shuttle Intenational and
Globus Food Systems. It began trading on the OTCBB following a reverse merger with Ross
Custom Electronics.
Using its knowledge of the language,
business culture, and customs of this complicated region, Globus was confident about its
success as a trade broker between Russia , the Ukraine , the CIS and Western economies.
Globus experienced significant growth during this time and was very optimistic about its
future. In 1997, it was funded by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency to analyze the
possible construction of two large refrigerated warehouses in Russia . However, as history
would have it, 1998 brought an economic crisis to the region which it is only now emerging
from. Many Russian companies at the time went bankrupt, which hurt Globus.
On the positive side, those dark economic
days allowed Globus to gain a greater market share in the region, since many of their
competitors simply went out of business. Rather than abandoning these countries, Globus
International has spent the last three years building strong business relationships,
developing loyalty and trust, landing significant contracts, and changing its business
model to be more efficient and less dependent on the ups-and-downs of particular
economies. Globus International currently has strong relationships with several large U.S.
and European companies (especially in food, metals, and other natural resources), and
excellent relationships with companies in the Ukraine , Russia , the CIS, and other
countries.
In 1999, Globus organized a large team of
programmers in the U.S., Ukraine, and Russia to create a unique trade portal which could
switch among languages and be used simultaneously in these languages. The successful
result of this effort is E-GlobusNet, which currently can switch instantly among English,
Russian, Spanish, French, and German. There is no other known trade portal that can match
this capability. In addition, Globus has continued pursuing the construction of
refrigerated warehouses in Russia, which are in great demand and which would give Globus a
central position in the huge importation of food into Russia from the U.S. and Europe. On
top of these two large projects, Globus has continued its day to day trade operations and
has added significant products and contracts to its offering over the last two years. In
October 2002, Globus announced the anticipated acquisition of three large, profitable
Russian companies. If finalized, the acquisitions would begin an entirely new, exciting
chapter in Globus history, and assure our success for years to come.
