E-GlobusNet
E-GlobusNet.com has been a three year
project of Globus International Resources in conjunction with a group of Russian,
American, and Ukranian programmers. With E-GlobusNet, the company is embarking on a
relatively unchartered territory of internet business þ the transformation of the
traditional trade sector into an efficient, centralized, and mutually beneficial portal on
which companies from all parts of the world can buy and sell large amounts of goods. The
project required the development and testing of a proprietary software program able to
handle real-time trade in a variety of languages. E-GlobusNet is currently available in
English, Russian, French, Spanish, and German. Other languages are in preparation.
The Purpose of the Portal
ÌBusiness-to-Business. E-Commerce has
been slowly transforming the way companies buy and sell goods and services. Through
auctions and reverse auctions, industry-specific portals, and streamlined product
purchases, B2B has been successful in lowering the costs associated with purchasing,
shipping, and managing products. At the same time, it has allowed smaller companies to
compete more effectively with larger ones by giving them the ability to place their
products side-by-side with major corporations. Put simply, B2B has been so successful
because it has been beneficial to everyone involved, whether they are buyers or sellers.
It would not be adequate to categorize
E-GlobusNet as yet another ÌB2B Portal.. The transactions that occur in the traditional
trade sector are significantly different than those that occur between normal businesses.
To begin with, the B2B industry has focused primarily on the exchange of goods and
services related either to the running of a business or to a specific industry (for
example, energy or plastics). In contrast, E-GlobusNet will allow an exchange of a broad
range of goods that are most typically traded between countries in large quantities. Thus,
it is primarily the areas of raw materials, chemicals, steel, food, clothing, and
region-specific exports that will be traded via the portal.
In addition, since the English language is
not universal (especially in non-Western countries), the emerging internet trade sector
will need to overcome significant language barriers in order to properly handle
international trade. To this end, E-GlobusNet.com will allow for a display of products in
several languages at once through its proprietary software. In addition, it can handle
input from several different character sets. To its knowledge, Globus has created the
first truly multilingual internet trade site.
Finally, since international trade is
further complicated by differing currencies, customs, business culture, shipping routes,
and laws, the services provided in internet trade must extend far beyond the typical
business-to-business exchange. A trade agreement between companies, made via E-GlobusNet,
will only be ÌStep One. in the trade process. In ÌStep Two,. Globus International will
use its years of experience in global trade in order to arrange shipping, draw up
contracts, and arrange payments. Once a company purchases a Ìlot. of goods displayed by
another company, Globus will complete a contract, arrange payment and shipping, and
personally contact the companies to finalize the deal.
In short, E-GlobusNet will be beneficial to
any company that chooses to use its services. For American, Western European, and Asian
companies, it will provide a greater opportunity to penetrate the promising, yet
difficult, Russian and Eastern European markets. For Russian and Eastern European
companies, E-GlobusNet will provide a web-based presence (many companies in that region
don't even have a website!) and a greater exposure to companies throughout the globe.
E-GlobusNet has the potential to become one
of the worldôs premier trade portals, especially since E-GlobusNet is two-directional
(it can be used for importing or exporting). The multilingual technology of E-GlobusNet
makes it a truly complete website for international trade. Finally, though it is beginning
with strong roots in certain parts of the world, E-GlobusNet has been designed for use by
companies in any and all countries of the world, especially those in developing regions.
The company plans on experiencing growth throughout the world and becoming a truly
multi-cultural, international corporation.
